| Ctenodactylidae - gundis  There are five species in this family. They are all found in northern Africa. They have brown or gray, soft, silky fur and look like guinea pigs. They rounded ears; round eyes; stocky bodies; short legs; short necks; and short, furry tails. Gundis are herbivores and are active during the day. They  live in colonies. World Status Key
